At least 50 Palestinians have been killed following a series of overnight Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza, according to a local hospital. The Indonesian Hospital reported that among the dead were 22 children and 15 women, after multiple homes in Jabalia town and the nearby refugee camp were struck.

Footage circulating online appears to show a dozen bodies laid out on the hospital floor, underscoring the devastating human toll. Several residential buildings in the northern Jabalia area were reportedly destroyed in the attacks.

The Israeli military stated it was reviewing the reports. It had earlier issued evacuation warnings to residents in Jabalia and surrounding areas after rockets were launched into Israel by a Palestinian armed group.

Meanwhile, at a UN Security Council meeting in New York, the UN's humanitarian affairs chief, Tom Fletcher, urged member states to act to "prevent genocide" in Gaza. He accused Israel of "deliberately and unashamedly imposing inhumane conditions on civilians" and called for an end to Israel’s 10-week blockade on the territory.

Fletcher also criticized a proposed Israeli-US plan to distribute aid through private companies, describing it as a "fig leaf for further violence and displacement."

Israel's UN representative, Danny Danon, rejected the claims as “baseless and outrageous,” arguing that the current aid system is compromised and exploited by Hamas—a claim both the UN and Hamas deny.
